OAFIC in Sri Lanka Project Preparatory Technical Assistance

COLOMBO, Sri Lanka. OAFIC has participated in the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Project Preparatory Technical Assistance (PPTA) in Sri Lanka this July 2001. This initiative is being conducted for the Aquatic Resources Development and Quality Improvement Project in the same region.

The Project is aimed at increasing the production of fish and fish products from freshwater fisheries and aquaculture and creating new income-generating
opportunities in coastal and non-coastal areas. The long-term goal of
the Project is to reduce poverty through aquaculture development and
contribute significantly to strengthening food security in non-coastal
rural areas.

Dr. L.P. Chandradasa, Chairman of the National

visited a Milkfish production in Palawan, Philippines.
